1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.
God knows what’s best and is in control. Growing in love for God means we can trust Him to care for all our worries.
Our cat, Lucy, hates to go to the vet. Because she is a strictly indoor cat, she knows the minute we get out her leash that she will be dragged to the vet to get poked, prodded, and vaccinated. On a recent trip to the vet, she very loudly voiced her displeasure and sat as close to me as possible on the car ride over. However, on the way home, she jammed herself against the car door as far away as she could, refused to look at me, and gave me the silent treatment.
After trying to explain that I loved her and was doing this for her own good, I was reminded of how often we act the same way with God. How many times do we give Him the ‘silent treatment’ when we are not happy with our circumstances? If we really believe His promises, we can be assured that He knows what is best and can make our circumstances work out for our good, even when we don’t see how that can happen.
Do you bring all your worries to God? Or do you wait to pray about a concern until it seems important enough? When things aren’t going well for you, do you give God the ‘silent treatment’?
Dear Lord, please help me to believe that You love and care for me. Help me to be patient and look to Your Word when I need to be reminded that You have all things under control. Help me to understand that Your love for me means I can bring all my concerns to You, for Your do care deeply for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
