Hurricane Harvey was devastating for the people in its path, with many people losing everything. They don’t even have basic daily necessities. Now, Hurricane Irma is bearing down on Caribbean countries and has its sights set on Florida. The road to recovery for all those affected by these hurricanes will be a long one.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries has sent thousands of crisis care kits to communities throughout Texas and Louisiana in response to Hurricane Harvey. Thousands more are now en route to Florida, but the warehouses are running empty. THIS is our opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus!
To respond to this crisis and be servants who can make a difference, the Junior Contenders will be assembling crisis care kits on Wednesday, September 13. You can help! We need donations of the following to include in the kits:
- medium-size bottles of shampoo (12-18 oz.)
- bars of soap (bath-size or larger)
- medium toothpaste (4.0-6.4 oz.)
- toothbrushes (in original packaging)
- box of Band-Aids (30 or more)
- fingernail clippers
- sturdy hair comb
- hand towels
- pocket-size packages of facial tissue
- small, Beanie Baby-size stuffed toys
- 2 or 2.5 gallon ziploc bags
We request that items be new, still sealed in original packaging. Please drop items off at the church by Wednesday, September 13. The Junior Contenders will assemble the items into kits and we will ship them to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, where they will be distributed to those in need. THANK YOU for showing love, kindness, and generosity to those who so desperately need it.
