what if Christmas never happened? What if God didn’t come? What if Christmas was not even a word? It’s easy to forget that none of the original characters in the Christmas story kenw that Christmas was a thing.
When I think of that question, I think of the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” where George Bailey is shown a destitute and poverty-stricken town that exists because he wished he had never been born. Or I think of Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol”, whose life becomes a completely new creation when he encounters the love of the God of second chances.
If there was no Christmas, our economy might collapse. We would have to find another holiday that would encourage excessive consumer spending.
Where I live in Minnesota, the winters are cold and dark. It would be even darker if there was no Christmas and no hope of God.
If there was no Christmas, what would be missing?
How is Christmas missing for many people who celebrate it?
How can we bring Christmas to people who are not sure it is real?
