Atmosphere and Attire – The atmosphere at Prairie Oak is casual. Greeters and ushers will be available to answer your questions or help you find your way around the building. You are welcome to dress comfortably and casual.
People at POCC come from many different backgrounds. We focus on biblical truth and teachings, and pursuing an active relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship should make a difference in how we live our lives and show God’s love to those around us.
Message and Worship – Our messages are built around topical sermon series. Each sermon series lasts for about 4 to 6 weeks. The chosen topics are always relevant, challenging and applicable, and are meant to help POCC families grow in their relationship with God and in living a meaningful life based on a biblical world view.
Our worship features contemporary songs led by a live band with several musicians and vocalists. The style of music is usually a blend of upbeat songs along with a more quiet and worshipful set. You may clap, raise your hands, sing quietly or just listen and contemplate the words.
Children’s Programming – Children’s programming is provided during the Sunday morning worship service. The age groups are divided into nursery (ages 6 weeks to 3 years), preschool (ages 3-5 years), and Power Surge (Kindergarten to 4th grade). In addition, we offer a special “tween” class, Power Up, for students in grades 5, 6, and 7.
Children’s Check-in Procedure – When arriving, please check your child in at the check-in table before going to the class rooms. At the check-in table you will receive a name tag for your child as well as a pick-up tag for you to hold onto and return when picking up your child. After checking-in, someone will escort you and your child to the age appropriate classroom where a teacher will greet your child. Please note that our teachers have been screened with a background check and have ongoing training to provide your child with the best experience possible.
Welcome Center and Refreshments – After the service, we invite you to stop at our welcome center, where you will have the opportunity to talk to a member of our guest services team and receive a welcome gift. Another great way to get a feel for our church community is to stop and enjoy some coffee, lemonade, and cookies after the service in the atrium.
